Welcome to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Nepal (CAMH-Nepal), established in 2015
AD with the initiative of Dr Arun Raj Kunwar and in collaboration with Dr Cecilie Javo and CWIN-Nepal. With a population of around 30 million, Nepal has over 33.84 % of its people as children and adolescents. A recent large-scale epidemiological study in Nepal reported a prevalence of 19.1% of child emotional and behavioural problems (Ma J et al., 2021). Data from the National mental health survey 2020, conducted by National Health Research Council Nepal found a
prevalence of 5.2 % of mental disorders in adolescents aged 13-17 years. (NHRC, 2020).
The CAMH-Nepal strives to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to children and adolescents throughout the country. Over the past years, the CAMH-Nepal, operated by CWIN-Nepal, has made significant progress in enhancing services, expanding community outreach, and pioneering research in the field. The team is committed to improving mental health outcomes for Nepalese children and adolescents and collaborates with national and international partners to elevate standards of care and eliminate the stigma associated with child and adolescent mental health. It aims to prioritize mental health services, increase awareness, and implement timely interventions to effectively address and reduce the impact of mental health issues on the well-being of children and adolescents.
